I <3 my bike: through the ages

There's a pretty big gap in the time line I guess. After the red bike there was another red bike with yellow tires. It cost 25 cents at a garage sale. It was kind of crappy so at age seven I opened up my first bank account so I could save up for a mountain bike with actual gears. I got one about a year later. After I outgrew it I stopped riding for some reason...likely because no one else I knew was. Much later I borrowed a never used bike from my mom for recreational purposes and wiped out on a logging road on some really sharp rocks. That put me off for a while. Then I lived in Montreal for six months and got a bike right away because they have such great commuter paths there. That was when I first rode in really scary traffic and found that it was not so bad. I got hit once while speeding in the rain and miraculously wasn't hurt. Now that I'm in Victoria where the weather is good I can bike year round and it's been a major upgrade to my overall happiness and health. I wouldn't get a car unless I absolutely had to.

Sweet! It sure looks like a classic. I remember doubling up on it with one kid standing on the back. I'm riding it inside because it was Winnipeg where you don't go outside for half of the year unless you want to freeze your face off.
