while I stared out at the wreckage
another morbid gawker
who saw it coming
that horrible pursuit
stopped
you were brilliant
and then you were crazy
and then you were tame

I'm here
and I am inspired
by my self
call that hollow
if you want to

you're always looking backwards
while salivating over future disasters
but the doomsday man is just a guy off his meds
a dead weight in a crowd that's always moving
it's like watching the sea avoid a barren island
that once was a volcano
